This former rubber plantation is now a safe place to land for migratory birds travelling through India to Siberia. In addition, it remains home to many large domestic birds throughout the year.

Kerala backwaters

Just inland from the Kerala coast is a labyrinth of waterways called the Backwaters. As salt water from the sea and fresh water from the mainland converge, a unique flora and fauna evolves. The natural beauty of the backwaters can be experienced by travelling on a luxury houseboat, by local ferry or by paddling in a canoe.
